A man whose wife was killed in the Omagh bombing told the DUP conference that he had to live on just £55 a week. Mr Stanley McCombe, who is not a member of the party, said it was another case of neglect of the victims of violence. He was ad dressing the conference, which took place in Omagh on Saturday, on behalf of the Omagh Support and Self-Help Group.
"We have found that the generosity of the people in the street has not been matched by that of the government and statutory bodies. All I get is the normal sick pay of £55.70 per week which everybody in normal circumstances would get," he said.
"There has been £44 million planned to rebuild the town centre, yet we have not heard from anyone how much has been set aside for the rebuilding of our lives."
Mr McCombe added: "The victims are the most forgotten people of the last 30 years."
