E-Search chief wins Internet Association's top award

Ms Denise Cox of E-Search has been named as the Irish Internet Association's Net Visionary of the Year for 2002.

Ms Denise Cox of E-Search has been named as the Irish Internet Association's Net Visionary of the Year for 2002.

The award from the internet business development body was presented in Dublin this afternoon by the government Chief Whip Ms Mary Hanafin TD who is also the Minister of State responsible for the Information Society.

Ms Cox works with E-Search and e-mail direct marketing agency which now boasts more than 100,000 readers. She worked with the IIA for up years up until 1997.A personal project was IrishAnimals.ie which provides a gathering point for a network of animal welfare people, as well as for visitors seeking to adopt or care for a pet. Thousands of dogs and cats found new homes due to contacts facilitated by the site.

Mr John Pierce, IIA chairman said; "I'm delighted that this award, which is decided by our members and the general public, should go to denise. She has made, and continues to make, a great contribution to the development of the Internet in Ireland and this has now been recognised by the votes of her peers."

Other finalists for the award included Ms Mary Mangan, chief operating officer ireland.com; Ms Sheila McDonald, ENN; Mr Ruairi Roddy, Thomas Crosbie Media; and Mr Damian Ryan, Perfect World.

Awards for contributing to Irish e-business development were also awarded to; Mr Adrian Weckler, The Sunday Business Post;Mr Cliodhna McGuirk, Saadian Technologies; Mr David Long, IrelandOffline; Mr Frank Daly, The Revenue Commissioners.
