Met Éireann won't be predicting the result of today's referendum but if rain keeps voters home, polling may start off slower in northern areas.

The day will start with rain in the northern half of the country through Ulster and parts of Connaught. The rain will move south at dusk or after dark, when it could become quite light.

It will also be another windy day like yesterday. Conditions will not be exceptionally severe but it will be "noticeably windy" with storms at sea.

Because of the wind and cloud, it may not feel warm but it is expected to be mild with temperatures in double digits, according to Met Éireann.

A spokesman said it might not feel especially mild but temperatures are expected to range from 10 degrees to 13 degrees Celsius.

"If it got really lucky it might even hit 14 degrees," said the Met Éireann forecaster.
