More than 280,000 passengers are expected to fly in and out of the country on about 2,000 flights between Good Friday, tomorrow, and Easter Monday on 24 March.

Dublin Airport has said the most popular sun destinations this Bank Holiday weekend are Lanzarote, Tenerife and Fuertventura for the sunseekers, while Salzburg and Innsbruck are the most popular skiing destinations.

All passengers are advised to check-in at least 90 minutes before their flight departure time.

For seafaring travellers, tomorrow's 7.15pm ferry from Dublin to the Isle of Man has been cancelled due to unfavourable weather on the Irish Sea.

Met Éireann has forecast a very cold and blustery long weekend in Ireland with wintry undertones. Outbreaks of heavy rain, frost, and some hail is expected and there is a risk of snow on Saturday evening.

Despite this forecast the Easter parade will take over the streets of Dublin on Sunday. AA Roadwatch have said that road diversions will be in place in and some bus routes will also be affected between 6.30am and 4pm. Check with AA Roadwatch for more details.

The gardai have warned drivers and pedestrians to be vigilant on the roads this weekend. In a crackdown on drink-driving more garda officers will be on duty and revellers are advised to arrange public transport.

They are also reminding motorists to check their speed and allow plenty of time to get to their destinations.

While many are sunning themselves, skiing or enjoying time at home and filling up on Easter eggs, cycling enthusiasts from all over the world will begin a four-day race in Kerry.

The Rás Mumhan 4 Day International Cycle Race starts tomorrow in Killorglin at 4pm and ends at 12.30pm on Monday. AA Roadwatch have said delays are expected in south Kerry for the duration.

The main event for traditional musicians will be at tomorrow's annual TG4 Gradam Ceoil Awards in Kerry. The line-up includes Altan, Liam O'Flynn, Tulla Ceilí Band, Martin Hayes, Iarla Ó Lionáird & the Crash Ensemble and much more singing, dancing and musical talent from all over Ireland.

There will be some rugby action at the RDS in Dublin as Leicester play Glasgow in the Magners League tomorrow. Kick off is at 7.30pm and traffic delays in and around Ballsbridge are expected before and after the match.

Further afield, Tipperary is hosting races at Powerstown racecourse in Clonmel. The first will start at 2.55pm this afternoon and the last race starts at 5.55pm.
