Budget airline easyJet announced today that it is to significantly expand its services between Northern Ireland and Britain.

As it takes delivery of a raft of new Airbus aircraft, to be delivered over the next five years, the no-frills carrier is boosting services out of BelfastInternational.

Belfast is to get a 15 per cent increase in low cost flights from next month. From October 26th there will be 15 daily services to London with the Gatwickroute increased to four flights a day, Luton getting a sixth and Stanstedincreased to five a day.

The Belfast to Edinburgh route is also increased to four daily flights. "Competition was stiff to attract the growth made possible by easyJet's newaircraft deliveries," said Albert Harrison, managing director of BelfastInternational Airport.

"We're delighted that Belfast International is to benefit, giving us 72easyJet flights a day and making us easyJet's biggest UK base outside London,"he added.

EasyJet is recruiting 24 new Belfast-based cabin crew in preparation for afurther expansion of services later in the year and next year.
