Budget airline EasyJet said today it more than doubled the number of passengers it carried in November over last year as the acquisition of rival British carrier Go continued to boost its volumes.
EasyJet carried 1.482 million passengers in November, up 114.5 per cent on the same month last year, but its load factor - the average number of seats sold on flights as a percentage of capacity - fell to 80.5 per cent from 85.2 per cent.
Shares in easyJet were down 2p at 327p this morning. The stock has gained 14.3 per cent in three months, outperforming the FTSE MidCap by 18.6 per cent since September.
EasyJet's main rival, Ryanair, carried 1.25 million passengers in November and said this week it would begin flying between Frankfurt-Hahn, Germany, and Gothenburg in Sweden in early 2003.
