AN GRIANAN adult education college in Co Louth is part of the Irish Countrywomen's Association but its courses are open to all and they must be some of the best value courses on the market. Residential courses from a Monday evening until Friday morning cost £130 for non-members - this includes accommodation, full board and tuition. (A single supplement of £12 applies). The range of courses covers everything from aromatherapy to bridge, from effective speaking to calligraphy, not to mention cookery, gardening, local history, stress management, pre-school play-groups and a walk week. There are also one-day demonstration courses. ICA members get priority so early booking is advised. For information contact (041) 22119 or fax (041) 22690.

UNSOCIAL hours worked by health care professionals often make it difficult for those in this sector to attend mainstream management training programmes. With this in mind, the College for Management Studies is offering a three-month part-time certificate in health services management aimed at nursing, medical and administrative personnel. The course, designed in cooperation with the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, begins tomorrow and will run on Monday and Wednesday evenings until May. The programme is designed around four core modules covering human resources, MIS, the corporate environment and health services management and management techniques and practice.
