`To deal effectively with bullying teachers need a clear, written school bullying policy which is agreed between parents, teachers and the children themselves.'

`Bullying often causes parents and teachers to blame each other. Teachers may believe bullying is learned behaviour, acquired by observing interactions in the home. Parents, in turn, may accuse teachers of favouritism, discrimination or picking on certain children.'

`Parents may also blame teachers for not being vigilant about bullying. Teachers, in turn, complain that parents often act in an aggressive, denying and threatening manner when their child is identified as a bully.'

The Anti-Bullying Research and Resource Centre, Trinity College Dublin, provides information, research, consultation and counselling to schools.
