Corkonians are gearing up for a feast of film, film and more film starting next Sunday night. The 43rd Murphy's Cork Film Festival will screen features from all around the world, including offerings from Norway, Brazil, New York, Australia and Hollywood, not to mention Ireland.
The festival opens with Divorcing Jack, a black comedy by Belfast-based writer, Colin Bateman. Irish films include Francis Barrett - Southpaw, a documentary about the boxer from the Travelling community in Galway who took part in the Olympics. Also The McCourts of New York is a sequel to last's years film about the McCourt brothers and their memories of growing up in Limerick.
Running for eight days, the festival closes on the final night with the screening of, a historical epic about Queen Bess, staring Cate Blanchett, Joseph Fiennes and John Gielgud.
UNREEL is a new addition to the festival aimed specially at kids. This features a range of films, workshops and seminars. Lip Service is a film about the Leaving Cert oral Irish exam. Edward Scissorshand will be screened on Wednesday, October 15th at 4.15 p.m.
