Fame or noteriety? The class made a huge contribution to banking, religion and business.
Hidden talents at school? Strangely, I was too shy to stand up and speak so I was not a member of the dramatic or debating societies.
Where did you go to college?
College of Commerce, Rathmines, to study business. A career choice it took me 30 years to change.
Best subject? English - taught in the old- fashioned way with a premium on spelling, grammar and punctuation for which I am sure the sub-editors at the Sunday Independent are eternally grateful.
Worst subject? Science. I made up for my deficiencies by marrying a scientist.
Most inspirational teacher and why?
Brother Athanasious, who gave me a love of Shakespeare, rugby and a belief in myself.
Worst thing about the Irish education system? The points system which has driven the concept of vocation out of career choice
