Lavistown House in Co Kilkenny is the tranquil setting for the hobby and leisure courses run by Olivia and Roger Goodwillie

Lavistown House in Co Kilkenny is the tranquil setting for the hobby and leisure courses run by Olivia and Roger Goodwillie. Between now and November you can try your hand at a range of activities including short-story writing, garden design, drawing/painting and basket making. There is also a course on discovering bats (on July 14th) which is suitable for children over 10 years of age.

This course takes place from 4 p.m. to midnight (with a BBQ included) and participants will be able to see bats flying and feeding. It costs £40. If your interests are more hedonistic you could check out the Cheese Experience or the Wine Experience (one day courses) both of which take place in November; or if you're the outdoor type there will be a weekend devoted to exploring the Burren, based in Corofin from June 1st to June 3rd. For more information online go to www.lavistownhouse.ie or if you prefer traditional communication methods telephone or fax (056) 65145 for a brochure.
