Donegal-man James Harvey has been honoured for his leadership in American school reform at Philadelphia's Villanova University.

Harvey, co-author of a new book on the need for higher school standards, A Legacy of Learning, is a graduate of Villanova. The book was written with David T Kearns, former CEO and chairman of the Xerox corporation. The university plans to award Harvey the College of Arts and Sciences Alumni Medallion for his leadership in calling for more public support to help the poor attend college and for more rigorous standards in US schools. Harvey, born and raised on Doorin Point in Donegal, emigrated to the United States in 1958 at the age of 15.
