Professor Peter Coxon is at the department of geography, TCD
Education: BSc University of Sussex in geography and biology (1973-76); PhD Cambridge University (1976-1979); been at TCD since 1979.
Current research interests include: dating and analysis of Late Tertiary and Quaternary landscape evolution on palaeosurfaces in western Ireland. The biostratigraphy and biogeography of Pleistocene temperature stages in Ireland, the geomorphology and biogeography of the Irish Late-glacial (13,000 BP - 10,000 BP) and the geomorphology and landscape evolution of parts of the Indian Himalayas.
Member of the Royal Irish Academy; former secretary (1994-98) of the Quaternary Research Association; chairperson of the Irish Quaternary Association.
Enjoys: swimming, walking, squash, curry, the odd beer and games of cricket with the Museum Players.
Family: married to Dr Catherine Coxon, lecturer in TCD; children Rebecca (2), and Christopher, (7).
