Who was your favourite teacher and why? Tommy Dowd, my Leaving Cert maths teacher. He was a good teacher - he must have been to get me through Leaving Cert maths - and he was a thorough gent.
Who was your childhood idol?
Jack O'Shea. He said hello to us once when I was very small at a National League game in Tralee. An audience with the Pope would not have had the same impact!
Who was your best friend?
I never really had a best friend as such. We used to hang around in groups more.

The Den and Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Grey jumper, grey shirt, grey pants and a red tie for a splash of colour!
What's the boldest thing you ever did in school? I never really did anything out of the way, I was a law-abiding citizen!

I can't remember us having a debs, possibly because our class was split because of repeats.
What was your most memorable holiday? Trip to New York last Christmas
What's the last book you read? A Long Way Home by Sebastian Barry, a very good read.
Would you send your own children to the same school that you went to? I would.

The people I met and got to know during those years.
What was the worst thing about your education?
Having to put myself through the terror of the Leaving Cert twice.
