Who was your favourite teacher and why? When I repeated my Leaving Certificate my English and geography teacher and my French teacher were my favourites because they had a real passion for what they taught.

Who was the object of your first crush? I already reveal far too much on the radio show, but this is one fact that you will never get out of me - too scared of the possible legal outcome.

What was your earliest career ambition? I wanted to be a train driver, then a teacher and then a newsreader.

Were you cool or nerdy at school? Somewhere in the middle ground, but I was never friends with the really in-gang.

Did you go to college? I went to college, but left in second year when I got a job presenting AA Roadwatch. It was too good an opportunity to pass up.

What song most reminds you of your school days? Us and Them from Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon.

Were your schooldays the best days of your life? No way! The last year has been one of the best years of my life, for both personal and professional reasons.
