"Tomorrow, we're going to the regional finals of the Student Enterprise Awards. Our mini-company produces DVD software to help teach business studies. We're all big fans of The Apprenticeand all have a keen interest in business.

“At the moment, we’re working towards the ECDL. There are seven modules in it, and so far we have completed one. It’s been really useful and I’ve learned a lot about the different programmes like Access, Excel, and Powerpoint. It’s really important to be computer literate.

“One of the more interesting projects is a book we’re planning: A day in the life of St Clare’s. It’s to raise funds for a new gym floor in the school. This Friday, the students will take pictures and give a taste of what a normal day in the school is like. The Transition Years have been taking photography classes with James Molloy, a local photographer.

“There’s been so much more: the Gaisce award, meeting the active age group at a local community centre, taking the driver theory test and learning about car safety, the BT Young Scientist competition, and the Model European Council Debate. We’re going to visit Sligo IoT and get a taste of life at third-level, and we’re also going on a trip to Paris. I love Transition Year, because we’re doing things we’d never normally get to.”
