What is expected of our school principals, and what can be done to help them define and achieve their goals? More than 400 principals and vice-principals are expected at a conference on school management at Trinity College Dublin this Friday.

The keynote speaker, Professor Thomas Sergiovanni of Trinity College, Texas, says schools should be rooted in values more akin to those found in communities and the family rather than in corporations. They require their own theories and practices of leadership, he says.

Booking for the conference is essential. Contact the Department of Higher Education and Education Research at TCD (tel: (01) 608 1723; fax: (01) 677 2694).
