Grace Burrowes, Castleknock Community College, Fifth year, LCVP in an interview with Anne Byrne
About a year ago, my family bought a PC. I was a bit apprehensive about going online, afraid I would do damage a very expensive piece of machinery. However, I soon plucked up the courage to take a step into the cyber world.
I quickly found favourite websites, most of which were entertainment-orientated. Music on the internet fascinates me. I can download my favourite artists' music at no cost, no questions asked. Do I feel guilty? Not one bit. I now have the world at my fingertips. Study aids have also been of great help to me. If I miss a day of school, I can catch up and even get extra notes from educational websites. I'm still trying to get a grasp on e-mail, but hopefully it will become second nature to me. One side of the internet I'm a bit wary about is buying goods. Hopefully, it will become a lot more secure in the near future. From an amateur to a semi-professional in less than a year, I feel proud.
