NUI Maynooth has appointed Dr David Redmond registrar of the university to replace Prof Peter Carr who is moving to the position of academic counsellor at Maynooth.

As registrar, Redmond is the senior officer with responsibility for academic affairs and is concerned with all aspects of the students' interactions with the university. These include admissions and the CAO system, registration, examinations and conferrings.

He is also involved in planning new programmes in electronic engineering, software engineering, psychology and Spanish. Dr Redmond was formerly a member of the department of mathematics at Maynooth.
