The seminars will run from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday's venue is Fitzpatrick's Silver Springs Hotel, Cork; Tuesday's meeting will be in the Hodson Bay Hotel, Athlone; Wednesday's will be in Galway at the Corrib Great Southern Hotel; Thursday's will take place in Sligo at the Sligo Park Hotel. Next Tuesday the Commission's last seminar will be at the Royal Marine Hotel, Dun Laoghaire.

Higher Options: Students with a ticket to this year's Higher Options Conference at the RDS in Ballsbridge, Dublin, will hear about career options and college choices over three days starting tomorrow. The conference, organised by The Irish Times and the Institute of Guidance Counsellors, expects to attract up to 25,000 secondlevel students. It will be attended by over 250 third-level colleges and training institutes. As well as all Irish universities and colleges, seven colleges in Northern Ireland, over 200 colleges in Britain and some colleges from Europe will be represented. PLC colleges will also be in attendance and the major training bodies outside the CAO system such as CERT, the Garda Siochana, the Defence Forces and nursing will also be present.
Eco photos: Those with an environmental conscience may want to enter a photography competition, which closes on Friday, October 2nd. Entry forms for the ESB Environmental Photography Awards 1988 are available from the Administrator, ESB Environmental Photography Awards, 14 Leeson Park, Dublin 6.
There are four categories, including a junior category for under 15s and a youth category for those between 15 and 24 years. Following an awards ceremoney in the Gallery of Photography, Dublin, next January, an exhibition of selected photographs will tour venues nationwide. The awards are organised in association with the Irish Professional Photographers' Association and are open to all Irish photographers, young and old, amateur and professional.
Open day: An open day will be held on Friday, September 25th, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the National Fishery Training Centre in Greencastle, Co Donegal. Admission is free. For information phone 077 81068.
New stamp: An Post has produced a 40p stamp to mark the bicentenary of Waterford's Newtown School. The stamp shows the original school house, which was founded by the Religious Society of Friends in 1798. The stamp went on sale at the beginning of the month.
Other new stamps available: a 30p stamp to mark the centenary of Mary Immaculate College, Limerick; a 45p stamp for the 50th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; and four 30p stamps featuring Irish letterboxes of the past.
