Grants for physics communicators
Are you a great communicator? Are you passionate about physics? Do you have a fantastic idea for making physics accessible?
If you answered yes, then you may be interested in applying for a public engagement grant from the Institute of Physics. The grants are worth up to £1,000 (€1,456) and aim to support individuals and organisations organising physics-based outreach activities in the UK and Ireland throughout 2006.
The scheme is open to everyone; however projects must be able to demonstrate a wide appeal, rather than simply delivering the curriculum to schoolchildren.
Application forms and guidelines for the grant scheme are available online at http://physics.iop.org/IOP/grants.html or e-mail physics.society@iop.org
All applications should be received by noon on March 10th. Applicants wishing to discuss their ideas can contact Caitlin Watson, physics in society manager, for informal advice. Tel: 0044-20-74704814 or e-mail: caitlin.watson@iop.org.
Teachers might also be interested in the schools grant scheme run jointly by the Institute and the Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council (PPARC). For further information, see http://teachingphysics.iop.org/teacher_support/schoolgrants/
E-mail any items for inclusion in this column, in advance, to noticeboard@irish-times.ie
