Summer 2006 Research Projects for Secondary School Teachers
Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) has launched the 2006 Secondary Teacher Assistant Researchers (Star) programme. The programme, now in its third year, enables teachers to work with an SFI-funded research team in an Irish third-level educational institution for a period of between six and eight weeks' during the school holidays. Teachers receive the stipend equivalent of up to eight weeks salary for participating in the programme.
The 2006 research projects are now available on the SFI website (www.sfi.ie) for those interested in participating. Teachers should identify an SFI-funded research project of interest on the website and make direct contact with the researcher using the details provided. The closing date is Monday, March 27th.

Education for Persons with Special Educational Needs Act
There will be a series of briefings on the Education for Persons with Special Educational Needs Act on Monday, March 6th and 13th in the West County Hotel, Chapelizod, Co Dublin and on Tuesday, March 7th and March 14th in the Education Centre, Drumcondra, Dublin.
The sessions will outline the key aspects of the Act and will be relevant for teachers, parents, school administrators and all interested in the topic.
