College of FE Open Days

DIT open evening
Dublin Institute of Technology is holding an open evening on Thursday, May 20th from 5 p.m to 7.30 p.m. in DIT Aungier Street for students interested in studying part time. Information will be available on the full range of part- time programmes and staff will be on-hand to offer advice.
Schools' History Prize
The winners of the TCD Schools' History Prize Essay competition for 2004, in association with History Ireland, The Four Courts Press and The Irish Times, have been announced.
Ross McCartney, St. Columb's College, Derry, Conor McCarthy, Gonzaga Colleg, Dublin and Sarah Deegan, Scoil Mhuire, Trim, Co Meath have been awarded gold medals in the senior, middle and junior sections respectively. Charlotte Berkery, Loreto St Stephen's Green, Dublin, Aisling Nic An Ríogh, Sacred Heart, Drogheda, Co Louth and Colm Ó Dubh, Coláiste Ráithín, Bré, Co Wicklow, were awarded silver medals.
Association of Teachers of English Summer School
The 2004 Association of Teachers of English Summer School will take place on Monday, June 14th and Tuesday, June 15th in the Dublin Writers' Museum in Parnell Square. Speakers include Hugo Hamilton and Robert Dunbar. For membership forms call the ATE line on: (074) 913 0911.
Science and Engineering Summer Camps in Limerick
The Young Engineers' Summer (YES) Camp is running in the faculty of engineering at the University of Limerick campus from June 14th to June 18th.
The camp is aimed at Transition and fifth-year students who are considering applying for engineering courses at third-level. Participants can attend on a residential or non-residential basis. For further information contact UL on (061) 213059 or e-mail yescamp@ul.ie
During the same week, the science department at IT Limerick will be running a course for second- to fifth-year students who are interested in studying science. The workshops and activities aim to give students a taste of what the different areas of science are all about. Cúl 4 Schools
On Tuesday, June 1st, The Irish Times will publish a special summer edition of the children's magazine Cúl4Kidz, produced in association with the GAA.
Primary schools can purchase copies of the paper including Cúl 4kidz at a reduced rate of €50 cent per copy (minimum orders of 10 copies apply).
