Prof John O'Halloran, Department of Zoology, Ecology & Plant Science will give a lecture entitled "Pink Feathers and Yellow Beaks! What's Happening Our Swans?" tomorrow at 8 p.m. in Boole IV, UCC.

"Stems Cells: New Body Parts for Old Humans or is There More?" by Prof Tom Cotter, Department of Biochemistry, UCC will take place at 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 11th in Boole 1. And on Friday, November 12th, Dr Paul Callanan, of UCC's Department of Physics will talk on "Evil Stars: When Comets and Asteroids Get Too Close for Comfort", also at 8 p.m. in Boole IV. Admission is free and all are welcome.

UCC, in conjunction with GET AHEAD and UCC Disability support Services, is holding a forum on employment issues for graduates with disabilities on Thursday, November 11th in the Multi-functional Hall, UCC.

* School Library Association Conference

The School Library Association in the Republic of Ireland (SLARI) is holding a conference on the theme "The School Library in the 21st Century: An Agenda for Change" on Saturday, November 13th. The event will take place in the JCSP Demonstration Library in Larkin Community College, Cathal Brugha St, Dublin.

Speakers include professional storyteller Niall De Burca and Dr Deirdre Haslett of Nua Research Services, who will speak on "School Libraries, Reading and Books - What Young People Say".

The conference runs from 9.30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and costs €€28 for members or €€33 for non-members including lunch and refreshments.

* DIT Lunchtime Concerts

The new season of DIT lunchtime recital concerts begins tomorrow at 1.10 p.m. in the theatre at the faculty of applied arts, DIT, Rathmines Road, Dublin 6. The concert will last approximately 40 minutes and will feature Ruth Cahill (soprano) and Nikola Hendy (soprano).

* UCD Learning Skills Conference

Can third-level students be trained to think more critically? Do such students' study habits and approaches to learning change as the year progresses? These and other questions will be addressed by international experts at a one-day conference on the theory and practice of "Enhancing Learning Skills at University" on Thursday, November 11th in the O'Reilly Hall, Belfield.

* Lunchtime Lecture at the Hunt Museum, Limerick

The Hunt Museum, Limerick, hosts a lunchtime lecture on Tuesday, November 16th at 1 p.m. entitled "Patriots, Poets and Painters". Margaret McCoy, of the museum, discusses Cahirmoyle House, Ardagh, Co Limerick. Admission is free and all are welcome.
