Special Educational Needs Conference at Mary Immaculate, Limerick

The Seeing Through Behaviour conference is organised by the Special Educational Needs (SEN) team in Mary Immaculate College, Limerick. The speaker is Bernard Allen, an educational consultant from Britain. The conference takes place in the South Court Hotel, Limerick on April 19th. UCD Smurfit School of Business's open day runs tomorrow from 4pm at UCD Smurfit School of Business, Blackrock, Co Dublin. This event will provide an opportunity to meet the programme managers for all of the school's full-time and part-time specialist postgraduate business and executive education programmes. Leaving Certificate Study Day for Art Students

The study day will take place on Saturday, April 28th from 11am to 4pm in the River Room, Lewis Glucksman Gallery, University College Cork. The Lewis Glucksman Gallery Art History Study Day for Leaving Certificate and transition-year students will cover the three sections of the Leaving Certificate art history and appreciation of art paper.

Lectures will be delivered by Nora Hickey, curator of education and collections in the gallery and Mairead Kelly, a UCC graduate in history of art. Places cost €75 but are limited so booking is essential. Tel: 021-4901844 e-mail: info@glucksman.org

Adult Art Course: Introduction to the Art of Chinese Calligraphy

This four-week introductory course, starting on April 12th and running until May 3rd, offers the opportunity to explore the ancient Chinese art form of calligraphy under the guidance of Ming Chi Tseng, a Cork-based Taiwanese artist. The course runs each Thursday from 2.30pm to 4.30pm and costs €80 for members, €90 for non-members. To book, tel: 021-4901844.
