Day of Learning at the National College of Ireland
The National College of Ireland, based in the Irish Financial Services Centre at Mayor Street, Dublin, is hosting a "Day of Learning" on Friday, April 30th. It is the first in a series of events designed to explore learning.
The series will cover a wide range of topics including: learning in the home, early childhood learning, learning in schools, learning in third-level institutions, learning in the workplace and learning in the community.
Speakers include the international expert in intelligent learning and environments and e-learning, Dr Peter Brusilovsky of the University of Pittsburgh, who will explore the topic of "Learning in the Future and Harnessing the Power of New Technologies".

Music in the Classroom
There are still some places available for the final Irish Times/ RTÉ Music in the Classroom concert for this school year in the National Concert Hall on Monday, May 10th. The concert is based on the Junior Cert syllabus and is suitable for secondary school children. For information contact Janet Stafford on (01) 675 8494.
DIT Lunchtime Recital Concerts
The final concerts in the lunchtime recital series will take place on Wednesday, April 28th and Wednesday, May 5th in the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama, Rathmines at 1.10 p.m. The featured soloists will be Colette Boushell, soprano, on April 28th, and Redmond O'Toole, guitar, on May 5th. Concerts last approximately 50 minutes and admission is free.
Free University of Ireland Public Lectures
J.J. O'Riordain will give a lecture on "Tragedy, Romance and Tall Stories: Perspectives on the Life of Edward Walsh 1805-1850" tonight at 7.30 p.m. in the Saor-Ollscoil na hÉireann Building, 55 Prussia Street, Dublin 7.
Tomorrow, also at 7.30 p.m., there will be a seminar by Chris Morris and Eamon O'Brian - "Saint Patrick Meets Some Irish Pagans". The seminar aims to find out why Ireland adapted so well to the early Christian message and asks if the same forces are at work today with the revival of Celtic awareness.
Saor-Ollscoil na hÉireann (The Free University of Ireland) was founded in 1986 as a small independent college to provide third-level education to mature students. Admission to these lectures is free and all are welcome.
Irish Deaf.com printed directory
A new independent organisation, Irish Deaf.com, has produced a directory aimed at anyone with partial or full deafness. The directory is a printed version of the Irish Deaf.com website.
The new directory lists deaf clubs and organisations, service providers with accessible services such as cinemas with subtitled films, theatres with signed interpreted plays and companies with minicom and other accessible communication methods.
