NovaUCD, the Innovation and Technology Transfer Centre at UCD and Venturepoint, the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Enterprise Board, is hosting a series of lunchtime seminars in UCD. Aimed primarily at undergraduate and postgraduate students, but open to all, the seminars involve well-known entrepreneurs who talk about their experiences of setting-up and running a business.

The seminar series runs each Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 1.50 p.m. until March 8th in the University Industry Centre, UCD, Belfield, Dublin 4. Refreshments are available from 12.30 p.m.

Today's seminar will be given byJack Donaghy, founder and managing director, Webtrade. The remaining speakers are Gerry McGaughey, founder and chairman, Century Homes (March 1st) and Sean Melly, founder and managing director, eTel (March 8th). Website: www.ucd.ie/nova

"Chain Reaction" is a series of science lectures aimed at a broad audience, but particularly at students studying science subjects for Leaving Certificate.

The next lecture titled "What is Cancer?" by Dr Bernard Mahon will be held at 7.30 p.m. on Thursday February 24th in Lecture Theatre 2, John Hume Building, NUI Maynooth North Campus on the Maynooth-Kilcock Road.

UCD Sinfonia at the National Concert Hall

The UCD Sinfonia perform in the National Concert Hall tomorrow with the internationally renowned pianist Philip Martin as soloist. The programme includes - Ravel's Fanfare and Bolero and Gerswhin's Rhapsody in Blue.

Schools Against Racism Poetry Competition

To mark the International Day Against Racism on March 21st, the National Consultative Committee on Racism and Interculturalism (NCCRI) and the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland (ECNI) in association with Poetry Ireland are holding a schools' poetry competition on the theme of anti-racism and/or interculturalism. The competition is open to the pupils of all secondary schools and the deadline for receipt of entries is Monday, March 14th.
