University College Cork Last Lecture Series: The Last Lecture Series, run by UCC's Faculty of Science to mark Cork European Capital of Culture for 2005 presents a lecture entitled Brittle Bones and Breaks by Prof Clive Lee, Department of Anatomy, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and Trinity Centre for Bioengineering , tomorrow at 8pm in Boole Lecture IV Theatre, UCC. Annual Schuman Public Lecture at UCC: The annual Schuman public lecture at the Department of History, UCC takes place tomorrow at 4pm in Civil Engineering, G10. Philip McDonagh, Ambassador to the Holy See will give a lecture entitled That Which Holds the World Together - reflections on the political thought of Pope Benedict XVI. GMIT Careers Fair 2005: One of the largest employment exhibitions in the west is to takes place in Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT) tomorrow, with more than 50 regional and national employers in attendance.

Students will be able to make personal contact with employers, get expert advice on skills requirements and learn about the jobs market. Companies with information stands include Intel, Bowen Construction, Lotus Automation Ireland, John Sisk & Sons Ltd, Laing O'Rourke, SAP SSC (Ireland), Goodman Medical, AIB-BNY, Bank of Ireland, FBD and One Direct. The professional accountancy bodies and the Institute of Taxation will have a collective information talk on job opportunities in this sector. Recruitment agencies such as ICE, CCP, Millennium People, WBS and Matrix Recruitment will also attend.

School Library Association in the Republic of Ireland Annual Conference: Are you interested in the possibilities afforded by a school library? Are you thinking about setting one up? Have you a post of responsibility? Are you currently working in a school library? Perhaps you don't have a library in your school but are looking for some ideas to get your students reading and improving their information literacy. The School Library Association in the Republic of Ireland (SLARI) is holding its annual conference - The School Library: A Dynamic Learning Space - in Pearse Street Public Library, Dublin 2, on Saturday, November 26th.

There will be practical workshops, presentations and illustrator Niamh Sharkey will be the guest speaker. There will also be a bookshop and an exhibition area.

Mature Student Information Evening at University College Cork: If you are considering returning to education, University College Cork is holding a mature student information evening at 7.30pm on Thursday, November 10th in Devere Hall, Student Centre, UCC Campus.

National Disability Authority Conference on Childhood and Disability: The National Disability Authority (NDA) is hosting a conference entitled Childhood and Disability: Inclusion in the Mainstream in the O'Reilly Hall, UCD, Belfield on November 22nd.

Speakers from Ireland (North and South), Scotland, England and Wales will consider various aspects of including children with disabilities in education and in leisure activities and how each country provides for the education of children with special educational needs. Aspects of the inclusion of children with disabilities in Gaelic games and of the inclusion of children with visual impairments in leisure reading activities will also be considered. Mary Davis, CEO of Special Olympics Ireland, will also speak about the benefits of physical education and sport for children with disabilities.
