Music Technology at DKIT Open Evening Dundalk Institute of Technology (DKIT) is currently accepting applications for its Master's programme in music technology commencing in January 2006.

The course is designed for graduates with a primary degree in either music or computing/science who would like to combine technological competence with musical creativity.

Those interested in finding out more about DKIT's Master's programme in music technology can attend the institute's annual open evening, which takes place this Thursday, November 17th in the institute's Multi-Purpose Centre from 7pm to 9pm.

Open Day at Senior College Dún Laoghaire

Tomorrow's open day at Senior College Dún Laoghaire runs from 2pm to 4pm. The college offers 50 full-time further education courses in business, auctioneering, accounting, marketing, human resources management, beauty therapy, theatrical make-up, holistic therapies, spa therapies, interactive (multi-media) computing, PC maintenance and technical support, CISCO networking, JEB teachers' diploma, interior, landscape and garden design.

The Last Lecture Series at UCC

UCC's Faculty of Science public lecture series to mark Cork European Capital of Culture 2005 continues tomorrow at 8pm with Suicide and Suicidal Behaviour: Questions and Answers by Dr Breda McLeavey, principal clinical psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry, Cork University Hospital. Campaign for Commercial-Free Education Public Meeting

Each year Irish schools receive a substantial amount of commercially produced educational material, enticements to participate in incentive schemes and offers to enter high-profile competitions sponsored by a variety of companies. The Campaign for Commercial-Free Education is a voluntary body that believes children should not be exposed to "marketing campaigns in the guise of education". It will hold a meeting for teachers, parents and interested individuals this evening at 7.30pm in the Teachers Club, Parnell Square, Dublin 1. There will be an opportunity to assess current schemes found within schools and discuss how to ensure education remains child-centred and not product-centred. All are welcome. National Association of Adult and Community Education Directors (NACED) Annual Conference

The NACED conference takes place on Thursday, November 24th and Friday, November 25th in the Abbey Court Hotel, Nenagh, Co Tipperary. Among the speakers are Prof Joyce O'Connor, president of the National College of Ireland and Derry-Anne Morgan who is the author of a book on adult dyslexia.
