History Lecture in UCD
Dr Wolfgang Marx, UCD School of Music, will give a public lecture entitled Requiem aeternam? The Musical Requiem between Intercession, Consolation and Accusation tomorrow from 5.30pm to 7pm in Lecture Theatre Q, Newman Building, Belfield. All are welcome.
Lecture on Environmental Crises at the RIA
“Where is the historian in the environment debate?” is the question Prof Richard White of Stanford University will address in a public lecture at 6pm tomorrow in the Royal Irish Academy, 19 Dawson Street, Dublin 2. Admission is free of charge but places must be booked at www.ria.ie

- Research Debate atTCD "Academic Research: is it of any value to the taxpayer?" is the title of a debate to be held from 6pm to 7.30pm on Tuesday, December 1st in the Robert Emmet Theatre, Arts Building, TCD.The debate, which is open to all, and co-hosted by UCC, will discuss the value of academic research to the taxpayer. National College of Art and Design Open Day
NCADs open day takes place on Thursday, December 3rd on the college’s campus at 100 Thomas Street, Dublin 8. Prospective applicants are invited to visit between 9.30am and 2pm, allowing at least two hours for a visit. Talks and tours will take place throughout the day and a seminar for art teachers and guidance counsellors will be held at lunchtime.
Mapping Competition for Schools
Ordnance Survey Ireland (OSi) has launched a competition for primary schools which will introduce them to the art of mapping.
The competition is run in two sections: junior schools (up to second class) and senior schools (third to sixth class). The children will have to answer a number of questions on mapping and geography themes and submit their answers by e-mail.

Authors Read for Dyslexia
" A Novel Idea .... Authors Read for Dyslexia" is the title of an event on Thursday, November 26th from 7pm to 9pm in the O'Reilly Theatre, Belvedere College, Great Denmark St, Dublin 1.
The book reading is in aid of the Dyslexia Association of Ireland. Hosted by Senator David Norris, Irish authors Claire Kilroy and Godfrey Graham will read excerpts for their work and discuss their writing.
