Vocational education has its origins in ancient Ireland, according to Dr Michael Farry. "The earliest written provision for Irish vocational education is contained in the Senchus Mor, the most important law tract of ancient Ireland, more commonly referred to as the Brehon Laws," says Farry in Vocational Teachers and the Law, the book launched recently by the Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern. "The scope of the book is confined to exploring some of the effects of legislation and judicial decisions on vocational teachers' employment," writes Farry. He hopes it will help resolve the disputes within the vocational system. Published by Blackhall Publishing, it is available in all bookshops for £19.99 in paperback and £29.95 in hardback.
