THE National Fishery Training Centre, in Greencastle, Co

THE National Fishery Training Centre, in Greencastle, Co. Donegal, will open its doors to prospective students on Friday, 27th September. Training is available for occupations including fishing deckhand, fishing vessel engineer, skipper and fish farmer.

Students will have an opportunity to meet staff and trainees and discuss career options with them as well as the practical details of what it is like to go to sea.

Bord Iascaigh Mhara established the training centre in the early 1970s; today it has all the latest equipment, included advanced computerised simulation equipment for training skippers. BIM has also produced a video on training for careers in the Irish sea fishing industry.
