THE Junior Cert Greek paper was described as testing but totally fair by Greek teacher Ms Muriel Hinds. She said that her students in Alexandra College, Dublin, left the exam hall smiling.
Question 6(a), which asked students to suggest four significant places to visit in Greece, was trickier than it first appeared, she said. Part B was quite straightforward.
Ms Hinds said the ordinary-level paper was much simpler than the higher level.
According to Mr Conor Hanratty, a higher-level Junior Cert student in Belvedere College, Dublin, "overall everybody said that the paper was quite fair." Some students found the English into Greek translation difficult and others thought that the comprehension was quite challenging, he said. "Everybody seemed to like the topical question on the Olympics," he added.
