"We will love and respect you no matter what your exam results," is the message students need to hear from parents.

Never give students Valium or other tranquilisers in an attempt to help them manage anxiety.

Do not use sleeping pills without medical advice.

If your student seems so distressed that you, as a parent, are tempted to prescribe - then seek medical help from your GP.
