Teenagers, especially the rebelious ones, will cheer when they hear that the Film Institute of Ireland is to run a series of Cinema in the Classroom screenings of Nicholas Ray's 1955 classic, Rebel Without a Cause , "the original and most enduring film in the teenage/ high school genre", says FII education officer Tony Tracy. "Startlingly subversive for the 1950s", he says, the film is still influential - and it defined the persona of James Dean. The morning screenings are at the Irish Film Centre, Dublin, on January 20th to 23rd; the Kino Cinema, Cork, on January 28th and 29th; the Town Hall Theatre, Galway, February 3rd; and the Orchard Cinema, Derry, on February 9th and 10th.

The screenings will also include an introductory talk and a post-film discussion, as well as a study guide produced by FII.
