St Andrew's College, Dublin, swept the boards in the senior section of this year's Irish Times and Four Courts Press Schools' Prize in History. Students, their families and teachers attended the prizegiving in TClast
Friday. From St Andrew's, Jamie Blake Knox and Shauna Ross won gold and silver medals, respectively, while Garrett Sholdice and Majdouline Hasnaoui-Amri were highly commended.
Among the winners in the middle and junior sections of the competition, Aisling Byrne from Mount Anville, Dublin, won gold and Eileen Kerr from Loreto, Clonmel, Co Tipperary, won silver in the middle section. Gerald Duff of Drogheda Grammar, Co Louth, was highly commended. Curnan Reidy, Dunshaughlin Community College, Co Meath, and Charlotte Berkery of Loreto, St Stephen's Green, Dublin, won junior section gold and silver and Zita Casserly, Ursuline College, Sligo, was highly commended.
Dr Howard Welch organised the competition on behalf of TCD's history faculty. He congratulated students on the exceptional standard of entries before the vice-provost, Professor Jane Grimson, distributed the awards.
