JUNIOR CERT BUSINESS: HIGHER AND ORDINARY LEVELS:TEACHERS AND students were "delighted" yesterday with both higher and ordinary level Junior Cert business papers that were described as well-presented, student friendly and "a credit to the people setting the papers".

Higher level students sat two business papers yesterday. The short questions on Paper I gave "a good taster" of the course, according to TUI subject representative Ivan O'Callaghan.

"The papers at higher level were very well received overall," Mr O'Callaghan said. "Questions were along the lines of what were expected."

Question one on the first paper, about household budgets, was "challenging but fair" according to Thomas Bredin, another subject representative from the TUI.

Students had to answer four questions out of six on the afternoon paper. There were no surprises, Mr Bredin said, and the paper drew praise for its clarity.

"This is the kind of paper that will encourage students to continue with business subjects," Mr O'Callaghan said.

Ordinary level students also left the exam halls happy.

The paper was well-designed according to teachers. "It wasn't overly burdensome and many students managed to answer an extra question which was great," Mr O'Callaghan said.
