THE editor of a book on Ireland's scientific heritage, Mary Mulvihill, wants to hear from you

THE editor of a book on Ireland's scientific heritage, Mary Mulvihill, wants to hear from you. "Ireland has a tremendous scientific heritage starting 5,000 years ago with Newgrange," she says, "but much of it is ignored, hidden and little known. We plan to put that to right with a new popular guidebook - working title, The Eureka! Guide to Ireland.

The 32-county guide, which will be published by Technology Ireland with Forfas support, will be invaluable to tourists, schools and teachers, organisers of conferences and tours, professionals and the public. It will include a reference section with contact addresses and Web sites.

It will features things to see and places to visit, brief biographies of historical Irish scientists, and short essays on topics such as gardens of botanical merit, caves and old mines. "We want to include as much as possible from around the country," says Mulvihill, "and we'd be grateful if readers would complete our questionnaire.
