Students urged to apply for Susi grant before deadline

All new applications received by Susi before July 13th will be prioritised for processing

Students seeking maintenance grants and financial aid for the upcoming academic year have until Thursday to submit their applications on the Susi website.

Susi is the agency that provides financial assistance for students in approved full-time third-level education in Ireland.

This year’s scheme, which includes the reintroduction of maintenance grants for postgraduate students, opened on March 31st.

More than 105,000 applications are expected for the 2017/2018 academic year and Susi has received over 74,000 applications to-date. Some 39,000 applicants have been provisionally awarded grants.

Support is provided for all types of students - from those in approved full-time education and post-Leaving Certificate courses to those in higher education and those undertaking postgraduate studies.

Minister of State for Higher Education, Mary Mitchell O’Connor urged prospective students to apply to Susi for their student grants before the 13th of July deadline.

All new applications received by Student Universal Support Ireland (Susi) before July 13th will be prioritised for processing. Information on eligibility criteria for grant funding and details of how to make a grant application can be found on the Susi website at susi.ie.
