Teachers by a new name

Remedial Teachers will meet in Dublin later this month, starting on Thursday, 25th

Remedial Teachers will meet in Dublin later this month, starting on Thursday, 25th. The three-day conference is the gathering of the Irish Learning Support Association, formerly known as the Association of Remedial Teachers in Ireland.

The organisation has renamed itself in order to put more emphasis on the children rather than the teachers, Carmel Kwik, conference organiser, explains.

A range of workshops during the conference will deal with topics such as emotions, intelligence and success in the classroom, the use and abuse of multimedia and the Internet and a dyslexic's perspective. Up to 600 delegates are expected at the conference which will feature 45 speakers, including the keynote address by Professor Aine Hyland of UCC.
