The Institute of Guidance Counsellors, for the first time in its 30year history, is about to have its own official headquarters. The institute's new offices will be at 17 Herbert Street in Dublin 2. Up to now, it has depended on the goodwill and "great co-operation" of members and others to hold meetings, organise seminars and correspond with various individuals and parties.

Roisin Kelleher, president of the IGC, says it is a voluntary organisation with no funding or resources of its own, apart from its annual membership subscriptions. She plans to start a fundraising programme shortly "so that we are in a position to give the best possible service". There are over 700 members of the institute, which has continued to grow since it was established in 1968.
