Further information: St Patrick's College is a medium-sized college of education with approximately 2,400 students taking courses in Education and humanities at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Since 1993, the college has been a college of Dublin City University and all courses are accredited by the university. Its BEd programme is the biggest in the country. The college has a new online master's degree in education (with options in early childhood, reading and teaching and learning) which will commence in autumn.

Further information: Mary Immaculate College of Education is situated in extensive parkland close to the river Shannon. It is an autonomous third level college and is academically linked to the University of Limerick and is the second largest college of education. In recent years it has expanded the range of courses on offer and it is the only college to offer a four-year degree programme in education and psychology.
This year saw the start of the first phase of the college building programme with a new multi-purpose building hall.

Further information: Although Froebel College takes its name from Friedrich Froebel, founder of the kindergarten movement, the college prepares students to teach in the primary school system. Froebel graduates are qualified to teach the full range of primary classes (Infants to 6th class) and the BEd qualification is validated by TCD.
Froebel believed that all children learn by activity and play and that teaching should be respectful and guided by the teacher in response to the child's activities.
The recent opening of the extension to the college is timely considering its growth in recent years. A new library has been constructed along with a new canteen, new lecture halls, a lecture theatre, and staff offices.

Further information: Coláiste Mhuire, Marino is run by the Christian Brothers Training College. It is another one of the TCD affiliated colleges. Irish is the main language used in the college on a day-to-day basis. Communication through Irish is encouraged and welcomed in all areas of college life including college administration, teaching and learning, and social activities. A rich student life is something the college takes pride in.
There is major development currently taking place on the campus which will include student accommodation, new catering, lecturing and sporting facilities when complete.

Further information: The main function of CICE is to provide a supply of teachers for primary schools under the management of the Church of Ireland and other Protestant denominations. The college also provides a range of in-service courses for qualified teachers, especially in the areas of learning support and special education. Although small, the college has residential accommodation, sports, library and music facilities.
The college is also host to a new initiative that seeks to integrate development and intercultural education within initial primary teacher education. The programme, known as DICE, operates across the five colleges of education in the Republic of Ireland.
