UCG, last year's overall winners of Challenging Times, continued on track for a possible two finals in a row in last week's first quarter final of the Irish Times/RTE third level quiz competition.
UCG (Maidhe & Cathail, Ciaran MacLochlainn, Constantine Christofides and sub Tiernan McConville) beat Tralee RTC (Victor Hayes, Steven Jones, John Healy and sub Ciaran Murphy) by 175-80 to take the first semi final place.
Next week the University of Limerick take on Waterford RTC recorders of the highest score so far in the competition against my old alma mater TCD ("Duh, we don't know that one, Kevin"). The question master is, as ever, the follically unchallenged Kevin Myers.
