IN AN upset to rival TCD's ignominious exit at the hands of Waterford RTC earlier in the competition, UCD were shown the door last week by Tralee RTC in the final first round heat of the third level quiz Challenging Times.

UCD, represented by Dan O'Neill, Colin Doyle, Damien Aherne and substitute Patrick Gallighan managed to scrape together a mere 75 points in the face of Tralee's 195 point onslaught to record the second lowest score so tar this year.

The line up for the quarter finals of the competition is now as follows: the spectacularly victorious Tralee RTC (Victor Hayes, Steven Jones, John Healy and sub Ciaran Murphy) will face last year's winners UCG in the first quarter final; UL will take their chances against Waterford RTC, who recorded the highest score in the first round; King's Inns will compete against Cork RTC and, finally, DCU will line out against two time winners UCC.

Challenging Times is broadcast each Wednesday evening at 8.30 p.m. on RTE 1. The question master is the older than he looks Kevin Myers.
