TY TALK:St Munchin's College, Limerick David Staunton (15), Andrew Hennigan (15), Jack Fitzgerald (16), Mikey Clancy (15)
ON GETTING JOBS
David Staunton:"I've been sending in my CVs to local businesses in search of a summer job, but I haven't been getting a response. Many businesses say they just can't take anyone on, but I'll keep looking and hope something comes up over the summer."
ON MUNSTER RUGBY
Andrew Hennigan:"Rugby matches have become too corporate, with many tickets going to businesses rather than genuine fans. People sometimes go to be seen rather than because of a love of the game."
ON DRIVING
DS:"I have a friend who's 17. I thought he had his head screwed on, but as soon as he got his car he was spinning around like a maniac. We've had some driver education in TY but I don't feel it made much of an impact."
Mikey Clancy:"I've been trying to get insurance for a motorbike, but at €2,500 it's too expensive. I feel there should be a way of proving you're a responsible driver."
ON SCHOOL UNIFORMS
Jack Fitzgerald:"School uniforms are dull. I understand that they're there to relieve the pressure of needing the latest fashions, but they should be designed in tune with what young people like."
ON TY FUNDING
AH:"I thought there would be plenty of trips in TY, but with grants and funding cut, there's only been one or two. Parents can't really afford it at the moment."
ON DISCRIMINATION AGAINST YOUNG PEOPLE
MC:"If you're just sitting on a wall with your friends, people often move you on because they think we'll harm them or do something we shouldn't. It's very unfair, as there's not much for us to do. The youth clubs are boring and don't offer us much choice. We need a place to hang out."
ON THE PRICE OF HAIR GEL
JF:"Five euro for hair gel! What a rip-off! We've all noticed that a tub of hair gel doesn't last as long as it used to. I suppose it's one way of getting young guys to shop around wisely."
