Efforts to salvage the Dunmore East fishing vessel, the Jenalisa, from the seabed off Waterford received a further setback last night when the Minister for the Marine confirmed that a new salvage company had been appointed, writes Lorna Siggins.

The 40 foot gill netter sank over three weeks ago with the loss of three lives, and two of the three bodies are still missing at sea.

Speaking during the adjournment debate in the Dail last night, Mr Barrett, said that technical difficulties had resulted in the appointment of a new agent to carry out the operation. The Department of the Marine confirmed that the contract has now been given to Celtic Diving Ltd of Cobh, Co Cork.

The salvage is now expected to begin on Sunday, weather permitting.
