Mark Wilson has been appointed as interim chief financial officer at Eircom.
The company says it has initiated an external search for a CFO. This follows the surprise departure of former CFO Peter Cross from the company in December.
Last month, ratings agency Moody's downgraded Eircom's debt for the third time this year and suggested that it could breach its financial covenants by the end of June 2011.
Mr Wilson has held senior financial roles with a number of large multinational companies including Sea Containers, Severn Trent plc, International Leisure Group and Arthur Anderson and Co.
Mr Cross joined Eircom in July 2007 from BT, where he was CFO of its OpenReach wholesale division in the UK. He had been group corporate finance director at BT.
