Unions and management at Eircom are attending talks at the Labour Relations Commission (LRC) this afternoon in attempt to resolve the dispute over pay.
The Communications Workers Union (CWU) and Impact both served Eircom with notice of industrial action last week over the company's failure to pay workers a 2 per cent wage rise on May 1st due under Towards 2016.
Eircom is seeking commitments on productivity before paying the increase in full.
LRC chief executive Kieran Mulvey wrote to unions and management on Thursday inviting them to talks "with a view to obtaining a resolution" to the dispute.
General secretary of the CWU Steve Fitzpatrick said: "If we're making any progress at the LRC then there is no problem in suspending our notice if an extra period of time is required for talks."
