An elderly Limerick couple, a 71-year-old man and his 79-year-old wife, were attacked in their home on the Ballysimon Road yesterday morning. The man was struck in the face during the attack and his wife was cut in the cheek. The raiders cut the phone wires and escaped with a small amount of money, which was later recovered.
One of the raiders is described as around 5ft 6ins in height and of blocky build and the second about 5ft 9ins.
