Britain's Emap said current circulation and advertising revenues at its UK Consumer Magazines business were good as the media company repeated it should meet its expectations for the year to the end of March.
The owner of Magic and Kiss FM radio stations and men's magazine FHMalso said in a statement it expected trading at its France Newsstand business in January and February to be weak and that the French advertising market was tough.
On November 16th, Emap said its French TV listings magazines, which have been pummelled by two new competitors in the market, had halted their decline on the newsstand, when posting first-half results at the top end of analysts' forecasts.
French newsstand sales fell 25 per cent in the six months to end-September, while overall circulation sales were down 16 per cent and advertising revenue declined by 5 percent.
"As stated at the time of Emap's interim results announcement, the board is confident of achieving its full-year expectations," Emap said on Monday.
Emap shares, which rose 5.7 per cent last week, closed at 857.5 pence on Friday, an eight-month high valuing the business at £2.2 billion sterling.
